How do you adjust you trailer brakes? Yes I've done the search, and couldn't find what I was looking for. Warm weather(well at least above freezing)is only a few weeks away and I want to get the Regal ready for another summer. I purchased a newer trailer for it last fall that has surge brakes on it and it has never really felt like the brakes were doing thier share. So I want to make sure they are adjusted properly before I start looking into anything else. TIA

Wingnutt, Disk or drum surge brakes? Start by making sure there is brake fluid in the reservoir. If no brake fluid or very low, add fluid to the reservoir and bleed the brakes. Disk brakes should be self adjusting. Drum brakes should have a plug in the backing plate which allows access to the star adjuster. Jack up the trailer wheel and rotate the tire, use a screw driver to adjust the star adjuster until the brake start to drag. Then back off the adjustment a few "clicks" until the brake doesn't drag. Then repeat the star adjustment on the other wheel(s).

They are drums. I though that was how to do them, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks a lot.
