quick summery i have twin 4.3 gl Volvo pentas i have upgraded both from a 2 barrel Holley carb to a 4 barrel marine quadrajet carb - the old holly carb had a hose attached to the base of it that ran to the valve cover on the left side of the engine when looking from the front. ant the valve cover on the right hand of the engine had a hose leafing to the flame arrester on the top of the carburetor. i added a quadrajet carburetor and it does not have a place to attach the hose that was on the bottom of the Holley carb so as i see it i have 2 options can you please help me pick the right one/.
1 cap off hoses -- I'm sure not a good idea!!
2 attach both hoses to the new k&n filter - it has hose attachments that hook to the side -- I'm sure this is probably the correct one.
problem 2 my exhaust manifolds have hoses that come off them and they originally hooked to the flame arrester on top of my old Holley carb.
can i just cap these hoses off? what were they for? i don't see them on all boats and if i remember correct when i bought my manifolds they had caps in there that i removed and put the hose like it was before.
sorry to be such a pain just don't know what to do in this case
and they say a picture is worth a thousand words so here is 3 of them
note the engine shown is not mine but it is the same year boat same type boat same motor etc just not mine i can post a picture of mine but camera is at my shop .
OK here is the pictures
