Me and another fellow Firefighter in the station got picked to do a table for a Calendar Party the Ladies of the Dept. are sponsoring. What this is....Twelve tables, each representing a Month of the year. What ever table should represent the month of the year. Gotta' have a center piece, some sort of party favore for your guest's (you gotta' get 7-8), some sort of cake or cup cakes, beverages and generally make the table a theme place for your Month.<br /><br />Now ya' gotta' understand that this is usually a party for ladies. Wadda' men know about stuff like that? For some reason, our girls thought it would be nice for the male type firefighters in the Dept. to sponsor a table. So they thru all the male firefighters names in a hat and drew mine and a captain.<br /><br />So....being the gracious firefighters we are, Pete and me said OK.....but don't blow a fuse when we unvail our table. We got the Month of July. What can be better? 4th of July and celebrating (heavily) our Countries Declaration of Independance.<br /><br />Here's what we got so far.....j<br /><br />Center piece will be a decorated red, white and blue cooler (loaded of course) with a flag staff on the lid and red, white and blue streamers hanging from the sides. We also have a couple 12V red lights on each side which will be revolving. The top of the table will be white with red and blue stripes. Blue and red cups, white plates on top. Still looking for napkins.<br /><br />Favores will be a nice beverage holding mug with a flag, sparklers, party poppers and anything else we can think of inside.<br /><br />I got my youngest daughter talked into making some cup cakes with red, white and blue iceing. Some ham salad sandwiches will fill out the rest.<br /><br />But what we are lacking is a real eye catcher. Something that stands out. Ya'll gotta remember....me and Pete are just a couple firefighters trying to do good and stay sober at the same time....heck...we already got at least 10 guest coming and maybe twelve (all male of course) to be our guests.<br /><br />Addendum.....did ya' ever try to get patriotic 4th of July stuff in December? <br /><br />Another added note....all ideas will be seriously considered. Pics will be taken and posted. The party is this Sunday at 7pm.
