Look at the same place where you find these numbers, there is a character stamped.<br />It's placed at the bottom of the plate on the black part of it. Clean the plate well and you can see it........<br />What is that character??

Thats a 1980..go to modellguide..then Yamaha..scroll down to 6EO

Wabbit,<br />I recommend you call The Netherlands Yamaha or maybe Yamaha in Germany. I’ve been in similar spot, looking for my motor year for very long hours on internet. Several posts to this forum, calls to local Yamaha and to US Yamaha didn’t help either. If it is not the US model, it’s quite a problem.<br />I don’t think your motor would be exactly the 1980, although the list is good, the year says “1980-“, I imagine that it means it has been produced for quite a long time. As an example, using the same key, my engine would be 1982 and it’s… 1994 according to NZ Yamaha, who were so kind and helped me out. Serial number does matter. So don’t give up and call some European Yamaha dealer.

Don't know if you can find the same info on the plate left side of motor as I did? But the Motor Guide listings in the Forign Motor Index ( read two post's earlier)it is on target to find the year of Mfgr. I found mine quick time.
