Oily film in my hot tub - Possible Source ?

Not sure where it is coming from.
We cleaned it out, added fresh water.
Turned it on to heat up over night.

Oily film was everywhere when I checked on it in the morning.

I heard they were banning 2 strokes on some lakes for that very reason. A good 4 stroke or a few electric trolling motors will clean that right up.

clean the filter, , run the air jets, if it foams, it body oil that cause the foam, a cap full of defoamer will break up the bubbles but only hides the fact that the water is "dirty" . google spa maintenance, spas can make you sick.
I once a month drain my spa, scrub down the tub and refill, easier than trying to sanitize and balance the water, its only a 1k gal or so of water.

one way to eliminate the oil is to shut it off and overfill it and let it flow over the top of the tub, oil floats over the dam.
I fill mine with domestic hot water,cheaper than heating it with the spa heater when its cold.

That's cause you're running the early fifties 16:1 mix motor! Now, if you were running an ETEC, you'd get more torque in the pool than a Yammy 4-stroke, and the pollution would be fine. Besides, I hear that XD-100 gives your skin that youthful look that is so desireable to women!

My Gawd Man!!!! That is an OLD Johnson. Those things were rainbow leavers for sure, usually more of a slick, as you may have noticed.
This is exactly the reason for all the environmental changes and why 99% of the outboards are now 4 stroke.
Get with the program and upgrade to the new 4 stroke outboard for cleaner water. Keeps the Hot Tubs a lot cleaner.

OR, keep your head above water.

Roscoe, I am surprised by your ignorance. Any true redneck knows to use a 65 pound thrust ELECTRIC trolling motor to avoid oil in the hottub.
