I have read the other older posts on this issue. This is my first boat, bought it three weeks ago. The engine has 290 hours on it. Boat is a 2000 also, Key West 22ft DC. Was running at full throttle this past weekend (I did not like doing that) trying to keep up with two friends boats, 45 minutes in the oil warning came on. We took off the Engine cover, the oil tank was at the low level line. The tank on board was 3/4 full. I believe the emergency switch to pump oil is the toggle switch on the top back of the engine? IT did not work with th e key on. There was no sound or oil filling tank. If that was the switch, it moved but not "click" like a normal toggle switch does. Just was able to move it to the starboard side and when I let it go it just went back to the left. no clicking sound.
We put oil in the engine tank and it ran perfect the rest of the way back. 55 minutes at 4000 RPM. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have not checked the level of the oil in the tank since I got back, will do that tomorrow.

its a momentary switch.
wont click.
sounds like a restricted remote tank filter.
also sounds like you pulled the filter assy from the engine tank.
not good.\
