I have a 93 200 Mariner EFI. While out of town for a 2 day tournament, I noticed oil under the cowl after fishing on Saturday. I found the clear hose that connects the oil reservoir to the oil injection pump was cut. I replaced the hose and filled the reservoir. Sunday while on the lake, the oil alarm came on. I noticed that the reservoir was low, so I added oil as needed, but the alarm kept sounding. I did confirm that the alarm was being triggered by the float in the reservoir cap by unscrewing the cap, starting the engine and moving the float up and down. Now that I'm back at home, I read my manual and noticed that I needed to bleed the air by running the engine with the reservoir cap unscrewed 1/2 turn. So I connected the fake-a-lake, filled the remote oil tank and the reservoir, cranked up the engine, and bled the air. No alarm. I let the engine run for 30 minutes and never received the alarm. I decided that I should put the boat on the water to see what would happen, so I headed to the lake, backed down the ramp, started the engine, and the alarm came on again. I bled the air again by unscrewing the reservoir cap. Still getting alarm. I bled the line to the oil injection pump via the bleed screw on the pump. Still getting the alarm. I looked a little closer and found that the hose going from the injection pump to the vapor separator had air in it. Being cautious, I disconnected the line from the separator and ran the engine for 10 seconds. No oil came out of the line. What does all this mean? Is the injection pump shot? If so, why did I not receive the alarm while the boat was in the driveway running with the earmuffs? Any help will be appreciated.
