Hi all

i have a new 2021 mercury pro xs 200 four stroke and I am getting ready to change the oil on it after the first initial 20 hours. I am confused on the oil type however. The manyal states 10w 30 and it also states 24w40 synthetic blend..

What do you guys recomend?
thanks

In this age of litigation, the manual will simply state the minimum requirement to satisfy the warranty. Do you want to be cheep, or keep your multizillion dollar engine in good condition?

In my 4 recent Mercury Marine 4-stroke engines I use Mercury branded 25w40 oil. I realize it costs maybe a few pennies more per gallon (or, OK many dollars per gallon if you want to use wally oil). Regardless, the extra few bucks are of no consequence to me.

ALSO, I buy my oil on EBay, which is a lot cheaper than the dealer, and comparable to wally.
