Oil to Gas Ratio

I have a 1996 60hp Mercury S/N 0G313539 what should be my oil to gas mixture? Ounces of oil to gallons of gas ? My automatic oil reservoir is disconnected. I've been doing 8oz of oil to 3g of gas and my spark plugs are showing that I'm running a little rich.

8 ounces is fine for 3 gallons for 50:1.

yep, 2.6 ounces per gallon.

Nothing wrong with a little residue.
You sure don't want them to be dry.

I use 16 oz to 6 gallons thats 40:1. I would rather have mine just a bit rich on oil.

Might want to check your math
