I have 1986 or 1987 110hp Johnson V4

I am currently running 50:1 other people have told me that I should use 40:1

Any Help as to whether I am OK with the 50:1??? Thanks!

Re: Oil to Fuel Ratio??

compression is great, stay with 50:1 TC-W3 rated oil. if it has not been done, change fuel lines to alcohol resistant, ETHANTOL

if you do not know when the impeller was last changed, think about it.

Re: Oil to Fuel Ratio??

I have changed the lower unit oil, and the motor is peeing good!!

Are there any other things that you might look at?????

So far the motor has ran great....other than this problem:

I will run it and stop and then it will crank fine a few times, and then you will fine that it randomly does not want to crank. And after waiting a while it will crank. Do you think the plugs maybe fouling or the engine is becoming flooded???

Would you recommened changing the plugs?

Any help is much apprieciated as I am not to knowlegeable and a first time boat owner but a life long fisherman. Ha Ha

Happy EASTER to all!!!

Re: Oil to Fuel Ratio??

when you say does not want to crank does it not turn over or not fire. If it is not turning over then check all your connections and clean them. I would change the plugs as I always do on a new to me motor. You can always check them to see if they are wet when it does not want to crank. Assuming this means turning over but not firing. It could be the coils are going bad also. They will have a tendency to not fire when they get warm if they are going bad.

yes it will not fire......I will check on the plugs and hopefully the coils are not going bad.

It was doing this before I changed the primer bulb and the fuel diapghrams in the carbs.

I was hoping that this solved the problem.....Thanks for the help
