Oil reservoir tank on115 merc OB

The oil reservoir tank seems to be compressing from suction as the oil gets used. I noticed a small rubber check valve in the cap which also has a relief like the caps on the plastic gas tanks. Should the tank be relieved or what?

There should be a vent in the top rear of the tank. It should be black in color and looks like a drawer pull knob. Make sure it is not plugged.

Joe, I need to clarify. All the 115 tanks need to vent but some do so via the cap as you asked. The later ones have the seperate vent.<br />Bob
