Oil recommendations for 9.9 4 stroke

Just received a new 9.9 Yamaha four stroke high thrust kicker. The manual says that many 10W oils are fine. <br /><br />What do you use and recommend? Would you use synthetic as opposed to dyno oils?<br /><br />I want to treat this motor right and get many years of use from it.<br /><br />Thanks!

I use 10w30, and change often. I have considered synthetics, but with my short intervals the dino juice seems to be the way to go. Natural/synthetic is one of those topics that can really be flogged mercilessly.

fouled plug,,,do you have a favorite brand and, if so, what was your criteria? Quality, experience, price?

I generally choose Castrol over other brands. Why? Well, uh.....that is to say....I don't really have an answer. A respected mechanic friend of mine swears by it, and I trust his opinion. I don't really have any empirical evidence that it's better than Brand X. But is sure is tasty on pancakes!
