There are many factors for the right answer, but 35-40 would be great. If you go too much below 35 you may have a problem.

Oil pressure readings will vary a lot with engine temp...
on my 88 4.3, cold idle is 40, hot idle about 20
3000 rpm about 55

An old general rule of thumb is that 10 psi per 1000 rpm is kinda what you are looking for. Oil weight and temp will affect OP as well, as allready stated.

Sorry guys, just seen that this oil pressure gauge is for my v-Drive and it always runs hi PSI, around 22PSI, is this normal as the guage only goes up to 25 ?
