oil pressure not registering

After overheating extremely and changing impeller, exhaust bellows and gaskets, waterpocket cover and gear lube. My engine runs fine. But the oil pressure guage never moves from 80 psi. Even when is turned off. What gives??? I was about to do an oil change, but should I wait? What can I do. Complete newbie. Its an 87 mercruiser 3.0 litre with an alpha one gen one outdrive

Not knowing for sure, but it sounds like you have an overheated toasted sensor...

Is that at the guage? Or at the engine end? Where would it be located. And would it still be ok to change the oil?

nevermind, I figured out it was just a sticky gauge. I read on another thread on this forum that you should try tapping on the gauge to see if it moves. I did and it moved.
