Oil pressure gauge maxed out

My oil pressure gauge is maxed out even at idle. I was thinking of substituting the sender with a pot to check the gauge. Does anyone know what the resistance range is for a typical 80 lb pressure sender?

Either it needs to be replaced or the pressure relief valve is stuck.....​
