My engine warning alarm started sounding on my ‘04 Sea Ray w/a 5.0 Mercruiser
All gauges were normal. I began to bring rpm’s up in gear. And the alarm stopped.
After about a 20 minute run at 500 with normal temps and OP, I felt a drop in power and rpm’s and notice the OP drop and could smell oil. I slowed to idle to limp into harbor and noticed OP drop to 25 psi. Normal running psi is 75ish. Checked level, just a touch over (1/8 inch.) and clear, no shavings nor dirt.
I run only synthetic oils. Did not change last season due to limited use. The boat has been a strong runner with literally no issues until this.
My nightmare is oil pump. Would I be correct ?
I appreciate any input.
