How do I know if my 1976 Merc 150 motor requires a 50:1 or 24:1 fuel/oil mixture? I've seen both ratios in this forum as possiblities.

Howdy, Dude.

I don't think I've seen an engine made after 1970 that didn't call for 50:1.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Hey boatdude, 50 to 1. The richer mixtures you have seen are probably for a special purpose like break-in.-G.

Re: Oil Mixture

Thanks for the replies. :)
Next question. My 1989 Cajun has a built in fuel tank. Is there an easy way to clean this? Any special cleaning agents that work especially well? It looks like I would have to take the seat deck off to get to the fuel tank.
Is there a good place online to look for a replacement fuel tank?
This boat has been sitting for awhile and I'm not sure how bad the inside of that tank looks.
