I have 25 hp mercury 2 stroke outboard. I currently premix my oil and gas at 50:1. I am curious if there is a product that will mix/inject the oil and gas as its fed into motor. I have seen this on 40 hp mercury but I don't know what its called or where to purchase something like that.

Re: Oil Mixing

Over time various systems have been marketed. Ones that sat in the tank and ones, that by variable injection made the proper mix.

Some that run these smart systems have problems and simply do not use them.

Anyway, by mixing it your way, you're the master and knows that the motor get's lubricated.

The biggest demand on lubrication is when idling because the fuel flows very slowly thus providing very little oil. When running higher rpm more fuel gets in and the oil is plenty.

The automatic systems are better comfort and you can get fuel from stations that do not sell your preferred oil, but apart from that there is no great difference for your motor.

Re: Oil Mixing

Go to the mercury site and go to Parts Express. There is an oil premix kit that mixes the oil to the fuel line before the engine from a small tank. You will need your serial number of the engine to gain access to the site. It will take you to a page that recomends a dealer then at the bottom "continue".......They even make factory power and trim unit kits for all motors down to 7 or 8 hp I think....a little known fact.... :D
