Re: Oil Mix

Well the best oil would be the johnson/evinrude 2 cycle. There's 2 kinds. 1 for carbeurated motors and 1 for fuel injected. The ratio to gas is 50:1.

What model engine do you have, Lizard?

Never make recommendations without knowing the year and model. There are 24:1 Johnson 70 2 strokes, 50:1 Johnson 70 2 strokes and Johnson 70 4 strokes.

And please post in the correct forum. I will move this to Outboard Non-repair.

Re: Oil Mix

As AntsGrady said, Johnson/Evinrude puts out their own brand of oil. It's expensive, but the cost of oil is not a major part of the over all boating cost, no? There is no objective information that I know of that would indicates it is any better than any other certified TCWIII oil.

I personally think that any "good name" in oil that is certified as TCWIII is as good as the next. You can get certified oil for quite a bit cheaper than the Johnson oil - it's your call as to what you think is best.

Like the guy said, you don't know the ratio until you know the year of the engine.
