Re: oil leaking

Replace the filter first, then retest. Next to filter is a small shaped can. That is the blow off valve. If filter is restricted the valve will lift and crankcase fumes will exit. No filter to separate oil and oil film well be left all over the place.

Re: oil leaking

Inspect the engine with a bright torch and mirror. See if you can see traces of where oil is coming from. There are many spots that it could be. We need to narrow it down.

Re: oil leaking

I've dealt with a couple of them. I'd change the oil for the customer, they would say it's to full, when it's right in the full mark. It would blow a bit if oil unless ya ran it with the oil level half way down between the full/add marks. These owners have had the boats for a long time, and learned to keep it a bit low. 2 seperate owners, never talked to each other. Both maintained perfectly, including changing all filters, breather filters ect every season. Must be the engine angle or something. These motors are clean, except the one I had to clean up the first time I had to clean it up. Both did it from new, they figured it out. Just a thought.

Re: oil leaking

Thank you everyone that i found to be true about the oil level in the engine . Also the older it gets the more the crankcase builds pressure .i am adding a newer stye rear valve cover with a breather element. Thank you all for your help, you are all the greatest !
