After my 1981 evinrude 50 sitting upright for 2 years, I just got around to getting it going again. I lowered it from the upright position to running position and it started leaking oil out of the small weep hole near the water intake. I pulled the drain plug and water cane out for a few seconds then watered down oil.. any ideas?

Id suspect unburned / partly buned oil fromthe fuel.

But I dont understand what you mean when you say you lowered it from the upright position to the running position.. Did you mean it's been in the tilted position for 2 years and you lowered it from the tilted position to the running position ?

If on the other hand it is a high viscosity oil and smells like lower unit oil it might be oil leaking from the gear case.

Check the condition of the oil in the gear-case for signs ( ie milkiness) of water ingress ...... Change the oil anyway,
Use new sealing washers on the drain/fill and level screws.

Change the water pump impeller too before you use the engine

You found water in the gearcase, then some oil water mix, and you have some oil coming out of a drainage/weep hole. I suspect a leaking oil seal, under the water pump or/and shift shaft seal. Get the gearcase pressure and vacuum tested, Having sat for two year tilted up, the water would have settled in the front of the case where the forward gear and bearing are located. If there was enough water the bearing may have been submerged, and two years of that isn't going to be good. Was the water that drained out clear, or was there ANY rustyness to it?

You appear however to have an appreciable quantity of water in the gear-case. The seals almost certainly need renewing.
I would think also important to inspect the internals, esp the front prop shaft bearing.
