Comment/Question:
I think I have a 89' mercury 80 h.p. The serial # is oc125362. It has oil
injection and I would like to remove it. What is the best way to go about
doing this? Also, what is the oil mixture?

E-mail - cmsrjs@PeoplePC.com
Jeff Schmitz

Re: oil injection removal

Why would you want to remove the oil injection on a mercury. They are one of the best oil injection systems there are. The best thing to do is mix oil in your gas at a ratio of 50:1, then fill the oil tank and mark it, then run a couple of tanks gas through the motor and see if it is using oil out of the oil tank.

Re: oil injection removal

I was wanting to remove this because I know a few people that have burned their motors up by the oil injection failing. I know it is working now but what happens when it goes out and I don't catch it in time. If I premix I know the oil is getting into the engine.

Steve, you would be surprized how many motors 'burn up' because people forgot to put oil in the gas tank...makes oil injection look downright reliable...

Thanks for your input! I think I'll leave it alone.
