oil in test tank after a long run - this a problem?

I was addressing my timing, carb linkage and adjustment on my '87 6hp in a garbage can. After a good hour or so of combined running I had quite a bit of oil in my garbage can. Seemed thick like the gear case oil, but I am not sure. Is that normal or does that indicate I need to change out the seals?

My manual states to pressure test the lower unit with 19 psi and also pull a vacuum to insure no leaks. I have yet to do that or even check the oil level for water. Before I tear into it, I wanted to know if some oil in the test tank is normal or not. It could be two stroke oil but I am not sure.

Thanks,
Paul

sounds normal.... that's how much goop our old motors put in the lake....

if your lower unit oil isn't milky, it was all exhaust

(check gear lube tomorrow, so normal frothiness will be out of it - confuses many as it looks whitish soon after running)

^+1, but running for an hour in a bucket isnt such a good thing as the water will get quite warm.
