Just got a 302 longblock (unknown year) to replace my 75 302. Specs on 75 motor said use 40 weight oil. Should I use that in the new motor also. Someome said (not here) to use the 40 for breakin then use 10-50 after that. Pretty much its a stock motor. Any suggestions?

30 or 40 (probably 40 in "bama"), and don't think you would find a 10w50 anyway. 10w40, or 20w50, but not 10w50

Alabama.Ive got 40 in it and if the owner before me used 40 it did pretty good. Didnt burn oil, minimal ridge in cylinders and always had 60 psi. Think Ill stick with 40. Thanks all.
