Hello I just bought a 1996 40 hp johnson outboard 2 stroke and I was wondering if anyone knew what ratio of oil in the gas I am supposed to use.

Re: Oil gas ratio

The correct ratio is 50:1, unleaded regular (87octane) and TC-W3 certified outboard oil.

In the common 6 gallon on-deck fuel tanks we just pour a pint of the oil into a full tank. That calculates to 48:1, but we insist on calling it 50:1.

Use one of those nifty measuring jugs they have at Wal mart. Couple of bucks and it will be your friend for as long as you own a 2 stroke motor.:D
