 I have a 40 HP Suzuki outboard motor,it has oil injection. I have had it in the shop many times as it puts too much oil with the gas. My question is, can I take off the oil tank and plug intake from line to motor and just mix the gas? A few people have told me this can be done. I am at my wit's end! Please let me know if I can do this and what the oil-gas ratio is. Thanks,Linda In Texas

Hey, Rebel.

What convinces you that the engine is injecting too much oil? Suzi injection is very reliable, but must be used correctly.

For example, never run the carb(s) dry when shutting down an oil injected engine.

Let us know. :)

Re: Oil & Gas Ratio

hey JB, thanks for replying. I have had it in the shop and they tell me it is getting too much oil. They adjust it and runs good for a day. I am going to take off the oil resorvoir and run my gas 50 to 1 and see if that helps. As I have to change the plugs every time I go out because they foul out. Thanks, Fancy Rebel ;)

Re: Oil & Gas Ratio

fouling plugs does not always mean too much oil!
you may have other problems causing your plugs to foul. better have your mech do a compression check and/or carb adjust/cleaning, before you disable something and end up still fouling plugs.
