I Have a 1966 3Hp Evinrude that my dad used to have. If I remember right he used to put 16 ounces of 30 weight oil in 2 1/2 gallons of gas. I was wondering if this was right of what mixture of 2 cycle oil could I use. It has a built in tank on top of the motor so I'll probably mix a gallon of oil/gas at a time. Thanks in Advance ED

Re: Oil/Gas Mixture for Old Evinrude

Hi, Ed.

The 1966 should use a 50:1 mix of TC-W3 outboard oil in 87 octane unleaded regular, alcohol-free gas.

That would be 2.54 ounces of oil to the gallon of gas.

Where you buy the outboard oil you should be able to buy a metering bottle, calibrated to give you the correct amount of oil for mixing different amounts of fuel.

If in doubt, always use more, not less, oil.

Good luck. :)
