I have a 1985 Johnson 150 and the oil injection has been taken out so I mix the gas 50:1 as I am filling up my 60 gal tank. I switch back and forth about every 6 gallons and then rock my boat for a few minutes.

Once they mix will they come apart again? Should I rock my boat everytime I use it?

If the oil fouls the plugs and one cylinder stops firing, can this be a momentary loss of power or would in not clean itsealf up right away?

Thanks,

Todd

Re: Oil Gas Mix

why even rock the boat if you take it out on the water wouldnt all that moving around solve the problem as for the mix coming undone Ive never heard of that problem

Re: Oil Gas Mix

Yes, some oils will seperate (settles to the bottom). It takes very little to get it mixed again and it takes a long time to settle. When fueling put in about a third of the required fuel, add all the oil and finish fueling. The action of the incoming fuel will mix it. NEVER put oil in an empty tank -- add fuel first. Setteling used to be more of a problem than it is now, but it's good you are aware of it.

The classic sympton is that the motor smokes excessively at first and then smokes very little toward the end of the fuel supply. Your motor should smoke the same all the time given that all is correct otherwise.

Good luck!
