First off I would like to let everybody know im new to this so bare with me....
I tried to start the motor(60 Johnson) with the ears on and the motor started right up, but the water was not cycling threw. I shut it down and reset the ears and tried again. Never did I run for it a long time either time I ran it.Any way I contacted a dude from an online sight and he told me the reason the motor wasent cycling water threw was because the lower unit had to be underwater is this true???????
Next when I pulled the motor out of the water and just let it sit, oil/gas ran out the prop shaft and ran down that fin on the bottom. Is this just exhaust? Or do i have a serious problem.

Howdy, Rich.

Welcome to iboats. :)

First, you need to tell us the model number. There have been at least 4 different Johnny 60s, some can use the muffs, some can't.

The drainage is almost ceretainly unburned fuel/oil from the exhaust. No worries.

If that 60 three banger has thru propeller hub exhaust,it has water intakes that use muffs.Sounds like you may have a failed water pump or cooling system obstruction.
