Hi, Okay so I'am going to show just how new I am to boating. I just bought my first boat for fishing. Is it normal for a few drops of oil/gas mix to exit the exhuast when you first start a 2 stroke outboard? I have a 1971 25 horse Johnson. It seems to run really well, but this oil/gas dripping has me a little worried.

How can you see "a few drops" when the water and exhaust is coming out?

Did you start it without it being in the water or on the muffs?

It is common to see an oil slick (gas and oil) on the water with a 2 cycle engine, especially an older engine. There is a low speed adjustment on your carb, maybe leaning out the carb might help. Not much to worry about.

Hi, It was in a 45gal trash can full of water.

ok, its normal to see a little in the water in a can. You may even see some in the water at the ramp. If you get alot then there maybe a problem.

It is just unburnt 2 stroke oil. Perfectly normal
