Ok, so I went to my local (45 min drive away) boat shop today to pick up everything I needed to finish my engine off...

I got my replacement bolts, pins etc, but... I forgot to get my bloody oil! D O H!

So, i actually do not know what I should be looking for/using. I need to do an oil change on the gear box (lower unit of my engine).

Can anybody recommend what type of oil I should use?

I had a look in the FAQ, but all of the oils seem to relate to the oil to mix with the fuel, not the gear box.

Runing a mariner 60, 2 stroke.

Cheers

That '75 Mariner can use any mechanical shift marine gearoil. here in the states, most auto parts stores and department stores (Wall mart, Kmart) will carry it.

Thanks Chris,

So basicly any off the shelf marine gear oil will do the job?

I wasn't sure if there were different ratings etc as per cars etc. Its what i wanted to ask the chap in the shop today, but completly forgot in the excitement of them actually having replacement parts I needed :D
