2000 F100 new to me, w/ about 700 hrs... I tried to save a buck this spring and put on Fram filter and Castrol oil (matching API specs)
Intermittent buzzer after engine start... researched this forum and found similar complaint w/ FRAM oil filter to blame... changed filter to Yamaha, problem fixed.
I have about 15 hours on this oil this season,,, mostly trolling. Was out this weekend and ran hard for about 2+ hours total... about 30 min per run.
I now have a white gease-like-oily film up in the oil dipstick tube, and the base of the dipstick handle. Oil on the stick @ the proper (prerun) level, and appears to be in good condition (not mixed w/ water)
This grease like substance coated the intereor of the dipstick tube about a mm thickness, most of the (visible) way up, and base of the handle (top of the stick)
Is this a result of foaming oil??
Anyone else have similar results w/ CASTROL?
I'm thinking oil and filter change w/ yamalube, any suggestions to flush out this "grease"?
