Oil fill port on dash...what for?

Hello everyone,

At the helm on the far right of the dash is a small oil fill port. Can anyone tell me what this is for? The vague, nearly worthless owners manual does not address it. SD217.

Thanks,

Not familiar with the boat but my first guess would be for the steering? Or something else mechanical that is controlled from your dash.

Yea its for the hydraulic steering. On my boat its more in the center. If you look behind the dash (you have to crawl under the storage area), you will see a tube from the fill port to the steering cylinder.

I agree with you on the owners manual. They have 1 generic manual for all their boats, and it is just about worthless.
