I Have a Honda BF130 and while using a Jabsco oil change pump, the coarse edges of the lower dipstick tube cut off about 1' of 1/4" teflon tube inside the oil pan. Does this pose a significant and immediate problem? How can I get it out without dropping the leg and lower unit? It is a screened oil pickup tube in the oilpan, so I am not terribly worried about obstructing the pick up flow. Anyone eles have the same thing happen?

There was a post on another forum similar to this where the suction tube fell into the dipstick tube. I won't go into detail on what this person tried, but I really doubt having the tube batted around in the crankcase will do any damage -- provided you keep RPMS down for a trip or two until the piece gets chewed up and settle to the bottom. Even if tiny bits get through the pump, they should make it through the oil system and get trapped by the filter. This is of course not recommended treatment for an engine but the only other choice is disassembly.

there is a suction screen on the oil pump intake tube. it should be large enough to handle that piece. after that it will hang out in the sump, next time with a hot engine drain it from the drain screw and see if it comes out.
