Total newbie here, and I did do several searches! I recently bought a 2000 Nissan 6hp 4-stroke. I have found tons of info on changing the lower-unit oil, but nothing on a regular oil change? What is the consensus of oil change intervals?
Thanks for all your info, I have found lot's of info on the oil itself, but no info on how and when. I am not at the motor, but I assume it is pretty straight forward, right. Also no oil filter?
Thanks again!

At the very least, change the oil once a season...but depends on the amount of use and conditions.

We do 'em every season, or at least every 50 to 100 hours. No filter on the 4/5/6. The drain is under the forward lower cowl. 10mm wrench fits the hex cap screw, with aluminum gasket. Be sure to use FC-W rated oil. Do not overfill -- not even a drop. Best to have the oil half-way up the dipstick.

when all else fails, read the owner's manual. There is a section in your owner's manual that shows you how to change the oil, complete with pictures, etc (and a section which describes how often, etc).

If you can't find your owner's manual you can download a free PDF copy from the Tohatsu and/or Nissan Marine website (www.tohatsu.com or www.nissanmarine.com). Look under the tech info section for the manuals or click the link on the top of each page.

For what its worth.......10w-30 oil, do not use synthetic oil and 25 hour oil change intervals.
