i have 60hp mercury 1993/4. its fitted with alarm etc . how do you know if the alarm is working ok as it dont make any noises when the key is turned on. should i get a warning when first put ignition on or not, i know some engines that have alarms sound a beep as soon as you turn the key but mine dont is this correct or have i got a problem. if this is right then what a silly thing to put on any engine as you wouldnt know if working or not. i have tested the temp alarm and the horn does work not tested oil yet though waiting till it gets very low.

It depends on what kind of alarm you have. The self-testing models have 2 terminals and a ground. The simpler alarms only have two terminals.
