Oil Alarm - Twin Johnson Setup

I have twin Johnson 200's, and during warm-up yesterday the starboard engine gave "low-oil" alarm. Port side was OK (no alarm). Checked the reservoir - about 1/2 full. I shut the starboard down, restarted it, and no alarm. Proceeded out with 2 motors. Outside the marina, and just before going on plane, starboard sounds the "low-oil" alarm again, quickly followed by the "no-oil" alarm. I immediately shut down that engine, and continued motoring with the port engine. No more alarms.

I am assuming that there is a problem with the oil pump on the starboard engine, some sort of blockage in that engine's oil line, or some sort of electrical snafu. What say the experts?

I am an ignoramus with most technical outboard questions, so any help is appreciated.

What year engines, and does engines have Tach with 4 red lights, no oil, low oil, overheat, check engine?

Pretty sure they are '92 or'93 (don't have info handy as I am actually asking for a friend). Also, the tachs do not have any indicator lights, just different alarm tones.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Oil Alarm - Twin Johnson Setup

I would put a 50/1 fuel/oil mix in tank until problem solved. Do the oil pump first, disconnect sensor tan wire to oil tank, remove oil hose at VRO2 pump, pump oil primer bulb to insure hose is clear and oil will flow to pump, reinstall hose to pump, check pulse hose while you are there. Start and run engine, may take a minute to clear air from pump, if alarm still sounds, pump or pump alarm is bad, replace pump. If alarm stops, test pump for output, see service manual. Oil tank sensor, fill tank connect sensor wire, if you get alarm replace sensor. Oil tank should be serviced when engine is serviced.
