Oil Alarm Circuits

I Have read Thousands of post on this subject without any resolve. 1989 135 Mariner oil alarm started going off after the radio shorted and turned itself on and drained the battery. I also filled the oil tank before jump starting it with a Mighty Mite. Ever since then the oil alarm would go off as soon as the motor started. The next day it didn't go off. The next day till now the alarm sounds when the motor starts. Checked the lid sensor and tests fine. I unplugged the sensor while the motor was running and the alarm kept...Beep...Beep...Beep. I tried burping it. No good. Is there any other circuit that could be setting that alarm off? I have been using a Generic grade oil in it, would that effect it? Engine runs great, it's smoking like normal so I assume it's getting oil, Temp. is Fine. I didn't see any signs of kinks or wire breakage. Does Oil mixture or air pressure in the tank effect this Alarm? I turn the Key back alittle it quits, But there is no power going to my gauges..Not Good! It stops sometimes for about 1 minute then starts going off again. Driving Me NUTS!! Is the circuit open till the float goes down or does the float going down break the circuit? What other circuit would set the alarm off? If someone could steer me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Oil Alarm Circuits

The way the circuit works is that it's open until a fault occurs. From the sound of it you shorted something out in your ignition circuit and it's feeding a ground back and sounding your alarm.

You also have a motion sensor on the oil pump you can check. The manual gives you a good guide to trouble shoot the sensor if you need it..
