When in the trim-in (tuck) position, the ohms should read between 82-88. When in the full tilt (out) position, the ohms should read 0 to 10 ohms. The trim gauge works only in the "trim" range, not also in the "tilt" range.

Be aware that this is backwards from Mercury so Merc gauges won't work (found that out the hard way)

Thanks, I was just trying to figure out if it was the guage or sender. I get no reading at the plug anywhere in the full range of the sender. It was acting up for about a year and not reading the same way every time. Well I guess I'll switch it out with another t/t sender, looks like another 89 oem part I'm surprised made it this long anyway in saltwater.

if you do replace the guage dont get a faria guage.
i just got one and they are wierd.
cannot get it to work jus right, its either too low or too high, cannot get it to be right at all.
maybe a genuine omc /brp is the best way to go on these guages, and the mercury like said above is completely opposite.
the guage has to be the right one or you will get problems.
