Plane crash in Middletown Springs
Staff Report | September 21,2013
State Police have confirmed that a plane crashed this morning in Middletown Springs, and fire and police are on the scene.
The Middletown Springs Public Library book sale was this morning, and library trustee Lois Dansereau heard the plane coming down.
"I can tell you we were here, we heard this plane, it was very very low, just over the treetops," she said. "Then it made a funny sound, and we heard it crash."
"It crashed in the field. The people are okay, their faces are a bit banged up, we understand," she continued. "People from here ran over... one man was a retired EMT."
The plane went nose into the field, she said, but it seemed that the pilot knew what he was doing, because it didn't go into the trees.
"We're just glad they're okay. What we heard is they ran out of gas. They were going for Glens Falls airport, but there's a balloon festival over there, and the airport's closed," she said. "They were going for Rutland and they ran out of gas."
The book sale is going well, too, she said.
