Well, this is as far as me and John go on this stage. In about a weeks time it gets a piggy-back to the paint shop.

Took a bit of finding a panel beater/painter. Found a nice guy, very quiet, about 60, been doing it for 40yrs, now works from home, dosn't see it a problem, paint is easy to match off picture....so I felt confidant with him. $2,000 cash (includes 2 Pak Paint)to complete body-work properly then paint. (incl stoneguard in well-side, black under bonnet/engine bay, inside cab).

Got my:
colours sorted out,
full set of side-moldings (incl rear) sorted (not Ford style at all so hope they "work out ok"
suspension sort of arranged,
and wheels...well still a little undecided. Ford have 4 very nice wheels with 4 good looking hub-caps (one I have my eye on) so do I go with one of these or a set of mags? Not sure yet. Would have to import the Ford ones.

John did a bit of "redneck artwork" on the windows and their rubbers.Took us half day to get it off. Not falling for that trick again.

Lets place bets for:

what finished colour will be
what finished style it will be
any takers.... :D

Cheers
Phillip

Hey Kiwi...just a question...is the throw of the gear shift from left to right or right to left. Always wondered about that since the steering wheel is on the right side.

I did consider pearl black, but no.
Two-tone....yes. White on the sides and roof. Not red for the rest though.
Full chrome job. Can't find the alloy/chrome Bezels to go around the tail lights over here. If you got a neighbour with them on 73-79, whip them off when he's not looking and post them over. Its work a bolltle of whiskey. Got to be in top shape tho.
Cheers
Phillip

Coming from me it will probably turn you another way but the best looking 73-79 Ford Truck I ever Saw was a Blue and White tu-tone. This one was probably 25 or so years old, but it was gorgeous. Maybe because it looked brand new even though it wasn't. BTW, my old bedliner is still up for grabs. ;)

What colour/shade of blue were you talking about Techno?
Here are the colour charts for all vehicles.

Go to Domestic, then Ford Trucks, then the year...75 in my case, (although all the colours from 73-78 are similar), and see if you can find the colour blue you are thinking of.
They have a name and a code No.
http://autocolorlibrary.com/

For anyone else looking for colours for their vehicle; this chart is a good starting reference.
Cheers
Phillip

I wish to discuss wheels with you chaps.
I am undecided at this point...and any suggestions will help me decide what I go with

1. Ford Mags (4 types pictured below. Problem is I have to import them, so postage will be a bit because of weight, probably bring them over the price of a reasonable set of after-market chrome/alloy Mags here.

2. Do I track down origonal F100 15" wheels here in Aussie from a wreckers, and buy (once again from USA) Hub Caps (The first 4 hub Caps in the picture below fit the F100 I have).
Then add a wide stainless steel Trim/Rims.

3. Do I go for after market Mag Wheels here and be done with it in one hit

If I can get away with it down here, I would like 15x8's on the back and 15x7's on the front, with sports truck tyres, and drop/lower the whole truck 2".

The look I want is a meaty sports-truck look but not a girly truck look

The biggest worry I have is that I get it all wrong and it looks a crock of old ....

I would go with teh Chrome Modular wheels, or as I trend to call them "Chrome bulletholes". Those always look good on a truck to me.

Paint color will play a big part in wheel selection so don't make a decision 'till you get her back from the paint booth.

I've done a lot of work on mine in Photoshop to save me time and money before I get to the real thing... post a pic when you get it back at a similar angle to those rims above and I'll crop them out and place them on your truck, seeing them actually "on" the truck might make your decision easier.

spots

Great, that is exactly what I need CN Spots. I thought of doing that with side-moldings and paint colours, a while back, but it is beyond my capabilities.
I will get back to you when it is done.
Cheers
Phillip

Here's what I worked out for the '68 (this week)... The black truck was from some used car.com site, but it's the same style as mine and was a nice test photo to work from.

f11b4after.jpg

4" drop, 18" centerline Avengers, Rear roll pan, tucked front bumper & Ext BlueStreak Metallic paint... Digital hot rodding is easy (and cheap). Pulling it off in reality will be the hard part.

I'm still working on the budget, and how to properly inform the Mrs. of the budget. :D That's the REALLY hard part.

Has anyone guessed your paint color yet?

spots
