Yes, dogfish the endangered species according to the National Marine Fishers, they are almost extinct. Apparently they have blinders on.
There are millions of these predators in the ocean. You were lucky that the dogfish did not steal your haddock off your line. The dogs have bassically ruined the off shore striped bass fishery, you can not get a line below them. These fish are eating the ocean clean. Some days with the motor off you can hear them barking LOL.
Catching five haddock for the day is average for them types of charter fishing. With 30 - 40 people on board only ten percent of the boat catches fish.
