I would like to take my boat, (19 ft. cc Key West) off the trailer from time to time, to clean and polish the bottom and to service the trailer.

I would like to know how most of you senior members remove your boat from the trailer and do the work that I want for my boat.

Thanks

Melvin Hatcher

DoferGofer

Unless you have a large shop, with VERY large roof supports, I think that the correct reply would be! "DONT TRY THIS AT HOME" I believe this boat is too large to try anything at home, I would have this done profesionally!

LubeDude

If you bought the boat new from a dealer, you may be able to go to that dealer and borrow his hoist for a few hours.

DoferGofer,

There are plenty of ways to do it. My preferred way is rent a "cherry picker" from a local rental yard and lift one end at a time.

Make sure you don't exceed the capacity of the jack and block up the ends you are working on.

The best way to stabilize the trailer is to hook it up to the tow vehicle with wheels chocked and parking brake set-VERY IMPORTANT!

Re: Off load boat from trailer

mine is a 19ft. cc sea nymph alum. i used 2 floor jacks with a short piece of 4x4 under the transom and went up slow and easy.[ u only need a couple of inches] thats enough to clean it. in my case, i did it to replace all the rollers. DO NOT LIFT FROM THE SIDES. and keep the winch strap tight with the wheels chocked at all times. it worked fine for me, good luck....bob

dofergofer
I also have a 19' Keywest CC and it's on a bunk trailer. I am interested in getting a roller trailer because i am having a hard time on some ramps i go to unloading this boat. I am wondering what type and brand of trailer you are using for your Keywest. I would appreciate a reply if you would be so kind. The Keywest has an odd hull in the aft, because it doesn't come to a full Vee, it has a step in it. Anyy help would be appreciated, Thank you

Hi,
Two of these can be used. Often used indoors at boat shops where the boats are at display. My boat, a 19' bowrider (1000 kg incl outboard), has been on/off of these several times to/from my trailer. Make sure the floor is level when working with this solution.

My trailer looks like this, it is tiltable where the boat rest and self adjustable sideways for the boat:

dofergofer, you might try this technique I read about in the Stupid Human Tricks forum: unhook the boat & remove the tie-downs, start back down the ramp and hit the brakes! :p

I hear that jacking the stern from beneath the transom is the way to go. Many on this site say to use one jack centered beneath the transom. Won't the boat tilt side to side with only one jack centered in the middle of the transom?
Stalker
