I have a 2001 Sea Ray 290 Sundancer. Just recently, when the vacu-flush toilet is flushed you get a brief sewer odor. It happens now, even right after the system has been pumped out. Is there a vent or clean-out I can flush to remedy this problem? I appreciate your comments...

Should be a vent from holding tank to side of boat. Creepy Crawlys find there way inside and make a home. My thoughts are to open up the cap for clean out, put a shop vac to the vent and let her rip (You said the tank is empty already right)

You could also find the holding tank vent line, disconnect from tank and blow air through it using a compressor.

Just my $.02 Good luck!! :)

Is the odor in the cabin, or do you notice it on deck. If it's while you are on the deck, here's something to consider that I noticed with my boat. Usually, your holding tank temperature is lower than the air temperature. If this is the case, the vent air will sink away from the boat and you as it exits the vent discharge. My vent discharge is near the captains seat on the side of the hull, about 6 inches below the rub rail. If I'm moving, or the vent air "sinks" away from me, I don't smell it. If it's cool outside, and I'm not moving, this vent air rises and hit me's pretty strong. First time it happened I thought I had a problem. Turns out it was just which way the vent air moved. As a matter of interest, my vent has a screen which keeps the critters out.

Turns out that there is an oder filter that sits on top of the holding tank...mine was 2 years old...suggested change interval is every year. Problem solved...thanks to everyone who made suggestions for solving my problem
