To get this troll really cookin' . . .

Arkansas Court Rejects Gay Foster-Parents Ban:

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationw...un30,1,6021648.story?coll=la-headlines-nation
Edit: you'll have to paste it as the link was truncated as so many others have been . . . I can't get rid of the underline?

I want to repeat a few positions I hold on this issue:

1) There is no question in my mind that there are some Gay couples that would make better parents than some Heterosexual couples. No need to say a word in this regard, this is obvious to me.

2) This is not about Homophobia, so save that response as well. I am not afraid of gays and would welcome openly gay people into my home without hesitation and I have previously done so.

3) This is not about religion, so save that one too.

4) The ideal parental model for raising girls and boys, is one of each: a loving father and a loving mother. I don't know how anyone can honestly dispute this. If it is the ideal, then this is what we should promote for foster parenting, adoption and yes, even marriage. In fact I'll go further out on a limb and say that I do not even completely understand hetero marriage unless it is with the intent to raise children . . .

And that IMHO is what The Waltons were all about.

Re: oddjobs troll

I agree for once. But I must point out that although man/woman couples are the better model for the child, if the kid is in a foster home in the first place I'm sure he/she would just be happy to have anyone want them regardless of sexual orientation.

Well thanks whoever you are . . . This ruling was about Foster parents, so your point may be moot. I do understand and agree with the intent.

I always thought there was somethin not quite right about granpa...

btw oddjob here where I work we have things called "Employee Resource Groups" - kind of like clubs to make us feel good - there's a Christian ERG, Muslim ERG, Latin American ERG, Over 40 ERG, Asian ERG, an AAERG, and of course, a GLERG. The ERGs get a special day every year to have a "festival" or whatever to celebrate our "differences" - where they decorate the lobby, and maybe serve food that represents their ethnicity, for example.

Whenever the GLERG day rolls around I always think, "I wish we had a special day to celebrate our heterosexuality" - now THAT would be worth coming to work for!
