I would have to agree with snapperbait. There is a bit of discrepency with your model number and the Force Model numbers for 1987. Are you positive the "F" is an "F" and not an "S" (HO152S87A - it is not uncommon to have the first part of the S/N or the 10's Digit for the year dropped (I.E. the 8)).

Interestingly enough, the Mercury EPC recognizes the Serial number, but it assigns it a model number of 7015209, and doesn't tell which Mfg. Group it is in.

Not much help here, but hope you can find some useful info.

Re: odd SN on motor

hi guys and thanks for the responses. I rechecked the numbers and they are good. I did talk to someone on the phone today and after looking very carefully at the ID tag it said US MARINE on it. This motor is a force but now i am not sure if it was made for the goverment??? I was told that motors with this on it where sometimes made for the coast guard or other goverment use. I have no idea what that all means but that is what he said. Funny thing is that the guy i got it from works on a navy base and use to rent his boats and motors from the base. I also know he always buys a lot of items the base sells off. I left a message for him concerning this. This gets more interesting every day, but I sure hope i can get the answers i am looking for.

Hey Jay , there's a company here in New Orleans called U.S. Marine that builds a lot of specialty boats for the navy . Maybe it's one that they put on a boat that they built . It's a thought anyway .

My year model guide from Force outboards, US marine power lists two #s 152f7a starting with ser# 1001 as a 1987. It also lists mod.# C152f7a ser# starting 1001 as a 1987.
I don't know the whole corporate story. I believe U.S.marine power was the company name and force was the brand. The company was owned by Brunswick.

maybe i can shed some light on this. In the mid 80's Chrysler corp, as part of the big government bail out sold off their marine divison. the outboards were bought by U S Marine and sold under the Force name. U S Marine was later taken over by Mercury
