I have a 86 searay with a 5.7 liter 4bbl carb. Engine was recently rebuilt along with a complete tune up. The mechanical fuel pump was replaced with an electric one. When we pull the boat off the trailer she starts right up and stays running. We cruise for maybe 15 to 20 minutes to our fav fishing spot. Shut the engine off. We fish for a few hours. Start the engine back up and let it run for a few minutes. We go to accel and she stalls out. She starts right back up and i can go full throttle with no problem till i shut her off again.Friday we had supernova and his family onboard and we were changing out props.I shut the engine off then restart it like 5 min later and i could feel it was reaady to stall so i eased off the throttle for a sec then went full throttle again with no problem. We were out again on Sunday the boat sat anchored for almost 6 hours she started right up and didn't stall when we went to accel. Ran the boat up to the dock left the dock and went back down to the other end of the lake. Fished for about an hour. Started the boat up went to accel and she stalled right out. She started right back up and i went full throttle with no problem. i have the fuel pump wired from ignition voltage to a oil pressure switch. So the pump only runs when there is oil pressure. The pump isn't currently wired to run while cranking. Figured i didn't need it running while cranking cause of the carb holding enough fuel in the bowl. I run 3 fuel filters. 1st one is a glass one to catch the dirt and bigger stuff. 2nd filter is the factory water seperator one. Then the electric fuel pump then inlet screen in the carb.i recently changed the water seperator filter. The engine uses the thunderbolt igntion system.
