I was looking at an evinrude outboard on ebay that is not too far from me and it caught my attention, but the seller said it was a mid 70s 85hp with this model number E05466
I emailed him twice to make sure and he says its right... I can't find it anywhere.

heres the link and it seems like a good deal.
85 Hp Evinrude Outboard
Thanks, Ralphw

Re: Odd Model number

That's the "Serial Number", not the model number. The "Model Number" should be right in front of that serial number.

I looked at the engine, and control box posted in the add. That engine would be a 1972 at the latest. With a model no., we can tell you for sure.

well not sure about this motor anyway he says it has 50 hours on it. one thing that bothers me is its white. evinrude didn't come white that year. unless its a johnson it was painted and why would someone paint a 50 hour motor?

Good question! is he sure it's not 25 hours? Maybe he's talking about the paint.
