The screw that holds my tiller grip on is kind of stripped. I would like to change it, but it seems that it is not available anymore. Do you know if they have come up with another for this purpose. The parts lists identifies it as BRP #310303, but as I said, it seems to not be available anymore. It is for a 1975 9.9Hp Evinrude.

Re: Obsolete Screw

Go to the hardware store and match it up with a stainless screw. You should be able to find the exact one. It will be standard (non-metric) in either coarse or fine threads.

Re: Obsolete Screw

Are you sure the screw is stripped? 99% of the time it is the shaft/screw hole that it goes into that is stripped. Pretty common, if happens when somebody fails to get it aligned properly and the screw goes in cross-threaded. I am not sure, but I THINK that is a #12-32 thread. NOT common and you probably won't find one at a hardware store. Try www.sea-way.com

Re: Obsolete Screw

FR is probably right. And I concur about sea-way... they have been GREAT for me so far and have had every last little thing I have needed for my '62 in stock including cosmetic items. I guess they have a HUGE complex of buildings and have always boughts lots of stock whenever and from wherever they can get it. My preferrred first stop on everything.
