Howdy all,

I was getting ready to put the drive on tonight with a new set of O-rings and seals.

I noticed that there's 3 O-rings on the shaft.

2 of them appear to go in the gimbal bearing area and one of them is about halfway between the gimbal bearing and the coupler.

Once everything is in....the one that's closest to the splines doesn't appear to do anything.

Am I missing something?

The picture below doesn't seem to show it but there is a 3rd O-ring between where the 2 go (#23), about halfway towards the splines.

It's in the kit but it doesn't seem to do anything on the shaft.

anyone know?

It fits inside a tube on some couplers to keep grease in on the splines and dirt out. Not all couplers have it.

Re: O-ring on a Bravo yoke

Ok.

It appeared that this is the OE coupler for this whole setup since I got it from the guy who bought the boat new.
Obviously mine doesn't have it. I thought something was "missing". It's not shown on the Mercury Parts Express or any others parts breakout either. I suppose it's been discontinued. I guess there's no point in putting that O-ring on the yoke either.

Thanks!

Rick
